Autism Consortium Consultation

Systemic support is provided on an individual student, classroom, school, or district-wide basis. Consultation includes program evaluation, program design, and curriculum development across age and severity levels. Mentoring of professional staff members by Autism Consortium consultants also may be arranged. Leadership development for autism specialists is provided to support the development of system-wide infrastructures. Examples of consultation services include the following:

To School Systems and Agencies

  • Evaluation of a school district’s or agency’s program for individuals with autism
  • Development of an infrastructure to meet the needs of individual students and classes
  • Creation of a professional development plan to provide a variety of training activities for all staff members providing services to individuals with autism
  • Presentations to school boards and principals
  • Development of teacher leaders
  • Creation of range of program delivery options for students with autism across ages and severity levels

To Classrooms

  • Evaluation of the classroom environments
  • Action plans for the development of individual classroom environments
  • Development of demonstration classrooms

For Individual Students

  • Oversight of ABA teaching programs
  • Support in the development and implementation of IEPs
  • Educational evaluations
  • Functional behavior assessments and the development of behavior intervention plans
  • Support for individual students in inclusive settings
